How to Refill Your Lighter
(It’s Easy, I Promise!)
You’ve got your lighter and you’ve purchased lighter fluid.
Yay! Now what?
It’s time to fill your lighter!
First Time?
No worries, follow the step-by-step instructions below, and you’ll be good to go in no time!
Step 1: Grab Your Stuff
- Your De.Eternal lighter (duh)
- Zippo lighter fluid* (don’t skip this part—any other liquid is a no-go!)
- Paper towel or tissue (because messes happen)
*Lighter fluid can be purchased online or at most hardware stores and smoke shops. These are Zippo lighters and Zippo does have a brand of lighter fluid, but any brand should work just as well.
Step 2: Remove
- Pull the lighter insert out of its case. Just hold onto the metal part with all the holes. It’s okay, you won’t break it. You got this!
Step 3: Flip It Over
- Check the bottom of the insert. See that little cotton pad or felt thingy? Lift it up—there should be more cotton underneath, (that’s how you’ll know you’re in the right place).
Step 4: Fill ‘Er Up!
- Carefully (and I mean carefully!) pour the lighter fluid into the hole. You don’t need a ton—just enough until the cotton starts to darken. Be gentle —no need to drown it!
Step 5: Wipe & Re-Insert
- Wipe off any spills (we want that sleek look, no mess!) and pop the insert back into the case.
Step 6: Light It Up, Babe!
- Let it sit for a couple of minutes, so the fluid can soak in, then give that flint wheel a flick. See a flame? Perfect, you did everything right!
Pro Tip:
- Keep your lighter fluid handy, but away from the flames, okay? Zippo recommends refilling “before every outing”, or every one to two weeks, depending on usage.
